Restaurant ordering system
A direct ordering website and app that reduced a restaurant group's dependence on aggregators.
[ THE PROBLEM ]
Commission on every order was quietly eating the margin.
[Placeholder client] ran four outlets and took most orders through delivery aggregators. Commission ran between 18 and 25 percent per order, and they had no direct relationship with any customer.
They also had no way to contact returning customers, because the aggregator held all the contact details.
[ WHAT WE BUILT ]
- An ordering website and app under the restaurant's own brand
- UPI and card payments settled directly to their account
- A kitchen display that groups incoming orders by preparation time
- Customer accounts with saved addresses and reorder in one tap
- Coupons and loyalty points the restaurant controls itself
- Menu and pricing updates that apply across all four outlets at once
[ HOW WE WORKED ]
We did not try to replace aggregators overnight. The first goal was simply to convert repeat customers, who are the least price-sensitive and easiest to win back.
Table QR codes were added so that dine-in customers create an account without any marketing spend.
The kitchen display was designed with the head chef over three sessions. It shows only what the kitchen needs and nothing else.
